The 14th Annual Congress of the SA Heart Association will coincide with the 6th World Congress of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery from 17-22 February 2013 in Cape Town. The organizing committee must be commended for including a wide spectrum of topics of interest for the adult cardiologist. This congress will also incorporate AfricaPCR in 2013. The congress abstracts are available in the Summer 2013 issue of the SA Heart Journal.

The AGM of SA Heart will take place on Wednesday 20th February in Auditorium 2 of the CTICC, Cape Town. Please familiarise yourself with the AGM agenda and the annual reports to be tabled.

Applications are invited for the annual Louis Vogelpoel Travelling Scholarship for 2013. Applications will be accepted from February 2012 to 31 January 2013 and the scholarship awarded after the closing date in 2013. An amount of up to R15000 towards the travel and accommodation costs of a local or international congress will be offered annually by the Cape Western branch of the South African Heart Association in memory of one of South Africa’s outstanding cardiologists, Dr Louis Vogelpoel.
